Below is complete safe method of statement which is covering all civil works related to the swimming pool construction/installation.
Obtain necessary clearances and approvals from consulting engineers including MEP clearance for existing underground utilities.
Selected working area should be barricaded to avoid accidents & damages.
Surface Preparation
All concrete surfaces will be cleaned from any dust, grease, oil, curing agents, and other contaminant. Anchor bar 8mm has to be fixed @1 m. c/c zig zag prior to commencement of steel mesh.
Steel mesh application
BRC mesh B-503 will be cut to the required profile of the Pool and fixed with proper lap joints ( 50 diameter).
The fixed mesh will be tied with anchor bar which has been fixed @1 m. c/c zig zag prior to commencement of steel mesh and first stage waterproofing.
One layer of BRC mesh B-503 shall be used for 125mm thickness of Geniting.
The minimum steel cover shall be at least 50mm from any formwork concrete or masonry and 40mm from the finished sprayed surface.
Laying of reinforcement must be inspected and approved by consultant.
GUNITING WORKS
Guniting is recognized trade name to designate a mixture of cement (SRC) and 3/16 block washed aggregate which is thoroughly mixed in the proportion of 1:4.
The mix elevator 634-D has two augers. Cement will be loaded in one augers and 3/16 aggregate will be loaded in the other augers.
With the help of automatic mix control system, the dry mix will be conveyed up and the same will be taken by mobile crane (or) tower crane, which has to be supplied by the main contractor.
The Gunite machine will be kept near the swimming pool area and connected with 2” air hose (heavy duty) from the 750 cfm compressor.
Due to air pressure through guniting machine dry mix will be conveyed to nozzle through flexible heavy pipes with heavy velocity.
At the nozzle the dry mix will be dehydrates by the nozzle man with the water line valve control and placed in its final position.
The distance of nozzle from the work shall be between 600mm to 1500mm, as a general rule, the nozzle shall be held closer at a slight angle in order to permit the encasement and facilitate the removal of the rebound.
The water pressure shall be maintained at a uniform level which shall be at least 0.1N/mm2 above the operating pressure and sufficient to ensure adequate hydration at all times.
The construction joints shall be tapered to a thick edge at approximately 30 degrees, no square joints will be allowed.
For vertical and near vertical surface, the application shall commence at the bottom.
PLASTERING WORKS
Premixed plastering works to be done as per approved plastering method statement.
CEMENTITIOUS WATER PROOFING WORKS
The activity of waterproofing material application shall not commence unless substrate is properly prepared in order to ensure complete adhesion of the material.
The substrate surface shall be prepared by ensuring it to be clean, dry and free dirt, dust, oil, grease, loose particles such as rust & scale, decayed matter, moss, algal growth, laitance and all traces of mould release oils & curing compounds.
Approved materials shall be used for all the waterproofing activities in accordance with the approved shop drawings, contract specifications and manufacturer’s recommendations.
Works will be carried out by applicator, in accordance with swimming pool waterproofing requirement with respect to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Apply 3 coats of waterproofing material with one layer of fiber mesh.
TILE FIXING IN SWIMMING POOL
The surface to be tiled shall be cleaned from dust, contaminants and mortar droppings, this will ensure that the plaster area is cured properly.
Mix the tile adhesive (tile mortar) with water as per the manufacturer’s recommendations and apply over the surface to be tiled.
Depending upon the workability, thickness is from 3 to 6 mm and it will be applied manually by masons.
Prior to applying tiles mortar in the surface, the same area has to be moisture with water.
Setting out will be done as per approved tile layout drawings. Joints will be true to line, truly horizontal, continuous and without steps.
The setting out can be done by masons according to the final approved shop drawings.
In the tile finish the expansions joints will be provide if the expansion joint will be there in the main structure.
Movement joints are not required in the swimming pool tiles since it has got constant temperature.
Position the mosaic tiles on the adhesive surface and press into the adhesive by using a flat wooden mallet or rubber spreader.
After the mosaic tiles are fully hardened into the adhesive, grout the joints, the grout is mixed and applied manually.
Mix the grout as per the manufacturer’s recommendations and put grout over the tiles joints.
Make sure that the grout is protruded into the joints.
Finally, the tiles should be carefully cleaned using a damp sponge and wiped with a dry cloth.
